Hi everyone, I just downloaded Process Lasso v9.0.0.290 and Parkcontrol today, but everything is just greek to me. I don't understand which options to select and the possible things i can do in order to make my game (dota 2) run more smoothly and efficiently. I have searched the forums, but i was only able to find guides for older versions of PL, so i am not sure if certain things are the same as this current version (v9.0.0.290) of PL. I am a newbee, so a step-by-step would be great! Thank you in advance!

Thanks in advance.

Hi, also sorry for the delayed answer.

tl;dr : you better off create your own profiles.

Because I use two profiles and Profile Switcher, I can't share a single file...
Also, my windows is in french and so my power plans are, you would have to edit the two .ini to get it working. I also have some personal settings that won't be useful for you.

If you still want my config, here what you need to do :

Create two profiles (Files/Config and profiles/Create...) named 'Desktop' and 'Game'
In Config Profile Switcher, create this rule to switch on Game profile
/f:\\games(?!.*wallpaper_engine|.*palserver)/
replace f:\\games with whatever your game folder is (eg : d:\\folder\games)

edit in notepad the two .ini files :
- search and replace 'f:\\games' with whatever your game folder is
- search and replace 'Performances élevées' with 'High performance'
- search and replace 'Utilisation normale' with 'Balanced'
- search and replace 'Économie d'énergie' with 'Power saver'

Import desktop.ini while in Desktop profile and game.ini while in Game profile.

Yes, it's tedious...

ParkControl / ParkControl crash on opening
Last post by cysgoder - April 09, 2024, 11:10:02 PM
Hi. ParkControl keep crashing on opening, showing the following message.

Oh No! ParkControl has crashed! It has generated a minidump that you can submit to Bitsum for analysis. To do so, upload the DMP file to https://bitsum.com/minidumps/. The path to the DMP file is C:\...\parkcontrol.exe.dmp. Would you like to jump there now?

I uploaded the DMP file (67.8MB) to the provided google driver. So can anyone tell me why it keep crashing?

I have only the 8 Cache Cores in the Set and was hoping the Windows scheduler would allow more Cores to be used if the utilization of the Set is high enough. ("Spill over") That is how I understand the concept of CPU Sets versus hard affinities, at least.

Sorry for the late reply. As you can see in my profile, I didn't change much. Just enabled Pro Balance and performance mode as well creating CPU Set rules for some folders.

Process Lasso / Re: LAPTOP DESTROYED
Last post by Jeremy Collake - April 09, 2024, 10:47:09 AM
Process Lasso makes no changes that persist after you uninstall it.

In contrast, the registry changes that video suggests *would* persist until you reset your Windows installation. If you did the latter (a full reset of your Windows install), then they should be removed. If anything is the cause of the trouble, it would be those. I can't speak for what changes it is making, as there are some REG files it instructs you to import that we haven't looked at. It could also be that your laptop has some completely unrelated problems.

In any event, whatever the cause, the trouble is not directly related to Process Lasso, and that is not our guide.

We hope you are able to figure it out, and encourage you to keep us updated.

Process Lasso / Optimizing CPU Usage with Proc...
Last post by Urimancy - April 09, 2024, 10:38:29 AM
I've been using Process Lasso for a while now and I'm really impressed with its ability to manage CPU usage. However, I've recently started working on some CPU-intensive tasks and I'm looking for ways to optimize my CPU usage further.

Here are a few questions I have:

Are there any advanced settings in Process Lasso that I should be aware of for managing high CPU usage?
How does Process Lasso's ProBalance feature work in detail? Can it help in my scenario?
Are there any recommended practices for setting process priorities and affinities in Process Lasso?
I would really appreciate any insights or advice from the community. Looking forward to your responses!
